Jane Upton

A trained journalist, Jane is an occasional freelance copywriter and increasingly full-time playwright.

Her first play Bones premiered at the 2011 Edinburgh Fringe where it received 5* reviews. This year Jane has written commissioned plays including Swimmingfor Menagerie Theatre Company and All the Little Lights for Fifth Word. She is currently developing Finding Nana, a play about her maternal grandmother funded initially by Arts Council England through the Theatre Writing Partnership. In 2013, Jane received a bursary from the Peggy Ramsay Foundation to support her playwriting work. She is also an associate artist of 1623 Theatre.

New Perspectives is an East Midlands based national touring theatre company, with a specialty in creating dynamic performances for rural audiences. We make ambitious and original theatre, focusing on new writing, adaptations and revivals, which we present in community settings and venues nationally and internationally. We provide career defining training and mentoring opportunities for emerging regional talent and manage the rural touring scheme Northants Touring Arts .
