Opportunities for East Midlands theatre makers

02 August 2013

New and Emerging Perspectives - opportunities for East Midlands theatre makers

Emerging Perspectives has been designed in response to a need to help focus, refresh and instil confidence in the next generation of theatre makers. Made up of three strands:

The EP Company presents an opportunity for aspiring actors, directors, designers (set, costume, lighting or sound) composers or stage managers aged 18+, to take part in a brand new company of emerging East Midlands theatre-makers. We are recruiting a training company to create and showcase work from October 2013 - July 2014. Auditions will take place at New Perspectives between 28 - 30 August and as a result the deadline for applications has been extended to 16 August.

We are seeking 4 writers to join the EP Company to develop a piece of theatre tailor-made for the company. As a new writer this opportunity to develop a unique theatrical voice. The attachment runs from January - June 2014 and the application deadline is 24 October.

New Perspectives launces a new 'long play' competition, open to writers who are from or based in the East Midlands. Artistic Director Jack McNamara said: 'If you have a distinctive voice, an unexpected story or an adaptation that will make us look at theatre afresh, this full-length playwriting competition is for you'

The deadline for submissions is Thursday 9 January 2014.

For more information on any of the opportunities see Emerging Perspectives or contact Tilly Branson on 0115 927 2334 or

New Perspectives is an East Midlands based national touring theatre company, with a specialty in creating dynamic performances for rural audiences. We make ambitious and original theatre, focusing on new writing, adaptations and revivals, which we present in community settings and venues nationally and internationally. We provide career defining training and mentoring opportunities for emerging regional talent and manage the rural touring scheme Northants Touring Arts .

One of the many things we do is to turn village halls into professional theatre spaces.
